There
are many peolple of course, who have played a big role in
making this project a reality, but those three, i think,

The
Putrajaya Convention Centre
"
AN ICON FOR THE COUNTRY"
IJM
HAS DONE IT AGAIN!
Sitting majestically on the highest point "Puncak Selatan"
of Putrajaya, the recently completed Putrajaya Convention Centre
is described not just as another landmark but an " icon
for the country". Located in Precinct 5 of the Federal
Administration Capital of Putrajaya, it is an impressive ultr-modern
International Standard Main
Entrance to the Putrajaya Convention Centre convention
centre with state-of-the art convention
facilities.
The
successful handing-over of the completed project in June 2003
by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn. Bhd. to the Government of Malaysia
was indeed a very proud moment for IJM.
IJM
was awarded this design and construct "fast track" project
in June 2001. With its short construction time, the demands of
its complex design and the sophisticated equipment to be installed,
all posed great challenges to the IJMteam. The construction of
the Banquet Hall ( with a clear span of 70 metres, making it one
of the largest column-free banquet halls in Malaysia using only
composite steel-concrete
structural frame ) and the Plenary Hall The
column free Plenary Hall with a seating
(
with a clear span of 80 metres, which
capacity of 3000
is also column free ) were among them. Eventually 7,500 tons of
structural steel was created in the project.
The
successful completion of the entire building was due largely to
the harmonization of structural design and the detailed &
meticulous planning of the sequence of construction activities
including its breathaking interior design and the latest built-in
state-of the-art convention facilites.
One of the
largest column free Banquet Halls in Malaysia
It
was a remarkable achivement and indeed an honour to be working
in close collaboration with the client, Putrajaya Holdings Sdn.
Bhd. and the renowed architects, Hijas Kasturi Associates Sdn.

The
completion of the project ahead of schedule was made possible
by pooling IJM's vast resources & expertise and the strong
sense of cooperation and commitment of the project team, consultants
abd sub-contractors to deliver this "icon for the country"
on time. Besides the timely delivery of the project, the high
standard of quality achieved in the construction of Putrajaya
Convention Centre
bears full testimony to IJM's motto of Head
of States Hall
"Excellence Through Quality" at work.
The
Putrajaya Convention Centre, successfully completed ahead of time,
is testimony to IJM's ability to undertake mega projects on its
own. It will become a permanent feature in IJM's impressive portfolio
of the many IJM-built landmarks that dot the country; Mid Valley
City, Istana Budaya and the Renaissance Hotel in Kuala Lumpur,
Putrajaya Hospital, major sections of the North-South
The restaurant
at the concourse perimeter Expressway,
the KLIA Runway 2, the recent completed
Jelutong Expressway in Penang and many others.
All
these, a clear demonstration of the professionalism, commitment
and the "can do" spirit of the people of IJM.
