- Sound Proof Room
If
you are looking to soundproof your room, look no further! You have
come to the right place. With great experience in acoustics since
the beginning of its industry in Malaysia, we can help you to solve
your problem. We are the specialist contractor!
Our
approach in handling your problem fall into three categories: -
1.
Soundproof your room. It's a way to prevent the loud sound coming
from your room from disturbing the other room within your house
as well as your nearby neighbors.
2. Have some studio-like sounds in your room! This is to increase
the quality of the sound that your room can produce acoustically.
3. Aesthetic aspect. We'll make your room looks nice.
How
do we sound proof your room?
Most people think that by putting up some sort of absorption material,
e.g. putting up the egg crate (cardboard egg holders) or carpet
the room is soundproofed. This is the myth that you want to avoid.
We can assure you that you will be very disappointed if you did
it! Different areas of your home require different treatment to
attenuate noise. Some noise is annoying when it comes in, such as
through the attic. Other noise may be annoying to others both inside
and out of the home. There are dozens of methods available to whip
your listening room into shape. We will consider each room surface
individually and suggest appropriate treatments.
| WALLS |
Listening
room walls often promote sonic misbehavior because they are
typically constructed of hard substances such as plastered
brickwall, gypsum board or wood. Since the wall surfaces located
near the listener are directly involved in first reflections,
it is especially important that they be addressed. For the
economy approach, ordinary drapes can go a long way. You can
also place furniture, plants or other items in the way to
diffuse the sound. For example: it is hard to beat an upholstered
couch or chair for sound absorption. If an object like this
is placed right at the spot on the wall where first reflections
occur, a remarkable improvement in sound can result.
The
remainder of the surfaces in the room contributes to the reverberatory
ambiance. This can be tested by standing near your listening
position and clapping your hands together loudly. The resultant
echo can tell you a lot about reflected sound signatures of
the room. If the clap produces a distinct echo, you probably
have some surfaces that need to be toned down. Generally,
the main offender is the rear wall. If it is flat and open,
you should consider some treatments
If
these conventional wall taming approaches are inconvenient,
you can consider our products. ISTIQ
Acoustic Wall Systems offer a variety of wall paneling
that can be used to attenuate wall reflections.

| FLOOR |
These
can be the worst offenders in a listening room because they
are often constructed of extremely reflective materials. The
absorption coefficient, for example, of your standard plaster/gypsum
board ceiling is approximately 0.05 (at 1kHz). In other words,
sounds bounce right off this stuff. And hardwood and tile floors
aren't much better with absorption coefficients of 0.01 and
0.07 (at 1kHz), respectively. Fortunately, though, there is
a standard household building material that does a wonderful
job of soaking up sound waves - carpeting. Both wall to wall
carpeting and area rugs do a wonderful job of absorbing incident
sound energy. And fortunately carpeting goes quite well with
most listening room decor. Another alternative, is to construct
a floating floor to isolate your listening room from the existing
building construction. Contact
us for further details. |
| CEILINGS |
Ceilings,
however, can be more problematic. One could glue carpeting
to the ceiling but we doubt your spouse would approve. The
next best thing is to install acoustic ceiling tiles. Typically,
these are installed 12" on-center, on 1"x 3" strapping that
is firmly screwed into the ceiling joists. Proper installed,
these fiber-based tiles actually do a very good job of absorbing
incident sound waves, particular in the higher frequencies.
Even
better sound absorption can be obtained via drop ceilings,
and most building supply stores offer a wide variety of acoustical
tiles designed for this purpose. One thing to note: if you
plan to listen at very high sound levels, drop ceilings can
rattle.
Alternatively,
you can also consider our Ceiling Systems. These panels are
available in a number of different surface textures, and in
a variety of colors. Typically, they are constructed of fiberglass
or rock wools insulation material

| WINDOWS |
Windows
are the most common sources of admitting noise into (or out
of), a room. Glass panes and wood window frames seem to be almost
invisible to sound. The best solution is to replace the window
with double glazing panes with a noise reduction of about 20%.

| DOORS |
The
worst sound leaks will be around doors. Your neighborhood hardware
store has the fittings and gaskets to fill these up. Once the
door is sealed, there still may be leaks around the door frame.
Extra treatment should be attended to especially the gaps behind
the baseboards and around any window frames. Incidentally, many
interior doors are hollow and light and don't really stop sound
well even when tightly gasketed. Such a door should be replaced
with a solid one. ISTIQ
Acoustic Doors is the best alternative if you are looking
for quality and inexpensive option. |
How
do we enhance your sound quality of your room?
If you are to soundproof your study room for example, then this
part we can skip. There is no need to do any sound quality treatment.
What you need is to prevent any noise that might transmit through
your room.
But,
for music lovers, like if you are into jazz, etc., this is what
you need the most. By using our latest acoustic software program,
we will get the right echo or scientifically called RT (Reverberation
Time). This is the amount of time it takes a loud short sound to
die away. "Dying away" can be defined more scientifically as a drop
in loudness of 60 dB, so acousticians call reverberation time RT60.
To
get the right RT, it does not means by just patching up acoustic
materials or putting up the egg crate (cardboard egg holders). You
have no idea the number of people who tell us how their friends
did it only to find it does little or no soundproofing! This appears
to be because it is frequency "holy". That is, it has characteristics
where sound at certain frequencies passes freely through it!
How
do we make your room looks pleasing?
You don't have to worry about our workmanship. Years of experience
in building and industrial acoustic construction have made us as
the only contractor who can satisfy your needs and requirements.
