Application - Acoustic treatment for Ventilation Systems

One of the main sources of noise within the ventilation system is the fan. The noise generated by the fan will propagate along the ducting, which form the air distribution system. Different system design and application require different types of fans and therefore different noise characteristic will be produced.

Acoustic treatment involving ventilation system can easily treated by using one of the following ISTIQ products: -

• Duct Silencer
• Circular Silencer
• Acoustic Louvers.

In order to make the right choice on which silencer and model to be used, the following information are required: -

i) Fan Noise Data which should be available from the manufacturer.
ii) Ventilation Ducting system. This is to calculate the natural attenuation within the system provide by duct runs, bends, branches and terminations.
iii) Information on the area or space of where the ventilation is to be directed.

The right selection of silencer delivers the required attenuation and at the same time integrates the right amount of air flow; without giving too high of pressure drop.
