Environmental Quality Act 1974

ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT 1974 enforced by the Department of Environment (DOE). DOE basically concerned noise that emitted to the environment from building, factories and construction sites. The guidelines of the noise level stated that the noise level need to be controlled to the level of 65 dB(A) during daytime (7.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.) and 55dB(A) during nighttime (7.00 p.m. to 7.00 a..m.) at the boundary.

Erection of fuel burning equipment
Any person intending to erect, install resite or alter equipment, plant or facility used for the purpose of heating or generation of power that is rated to consume pulverized fuel or any solid fuel at 30 kg or more per hour or any liquid or gaseous matter at 15 kg or more per hour, shall obtain prior approval from the Director-General.

Penalty and Fees
An omission or neglect to comply with, and an act done or attempted to be done contrary to the provisions of these Regulations other than paragraph (1) shall be an offence and the offender shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding five thousand ringgit or to aterm of imprisonment not exceeding one year or both.
