After reading so much about the Pioneer Junior DTA CD player - the DEH P9450MP - he decided to get one for his Airtrek. He loves the all-in-one built-in feature of the DEHP9450MP - it has a
built-in Digital X-Over network, a 13-Band Digital EQ, the DTA, and it is also equipped with three pairs of 6.5-volt signal output. To buy all these components separately will cost more than RM6k. The DEH P9450MP costs less than RM3.5k
Furthermore, there are less components to be fitted all over the car. The installer loves the DEH P9450 because it allows the X-Over, equalizer and time alignment settings to be done on the head unit's panel itself thus rendering the programming job easier to perform. With conventional sets,
the settings have to be done on the individual components which are usually mounted underneath the seats or at the boot.
Front Staging Speakers
Eton NCS 700 component speakers are used. The Etons were personally chosen by the owner because he had been impressed by its mellow and sweet-sounding reproduction, coupled with its compact and shallow mounting angle. The 7-inch mid and the tweeter are mounted in the original speaker mount.
Rear-Fill Effect Speakers
Eton NCS 525 component speakers are used. The 5 1/4 mid and
tweeter are mounted on a fabricated board at the original mounting
position.
Subwoofer System
An 8-inch bass tube by SAS BOZOOKA is used. This is mounted
at the rear boot and kept in place with the strap provided.
Amplifiers
Two units of Altec Lansing amplifiers are used. The ALA200 (2x100) is used to drive the subwoofer while the ALA320 (4x80) is used to drive the front and rear speaker system. Both amplifiers are located
underneath the front seats.
Wiring System
A) RCA Interconnects - Aura Dynamics Silverline RCA cable are used to channel the signal from the head unit to the amplifier.
B) Hotwire - Aura Dynamics SV2.12 speakers wires are used.
C) Power cable - Aura Dynamics 4-gauge powerlines are used.
Tuning
The points of the X-Over and the settings of the equalizer were tuned by ear. The gain settings of the components were gauged using an oscilloscope.
Conclusion
The system is tuned to Mr R's preference in music, which is predominantly R+B. He loves tight bass notes and warm vocals. He now enjoys his car even more, and actually looks forward to his daily commute, especially after a hard day at work.

From top: The DEHP9450MP, which is about RM3.5k, but it has lots of built-in features, most important of which is Digital Time Alignment. This installation uses all the standard mounting points.
